This antisocial elf-themed beer from a Pennsylvania brewery is probably not the one you expected today, but it’s just as worthy of your Christmas drinking list as the other one (whose cherries and honey we reviewed here). Rude Elf Reserve's base is a hefty brown Belgian ale with vibrant carbonation and notes of toasted nuts and dark fruit, but the star of the show is its mess o' traditional winter spices: Bright, robust waves of cinnamon, nutmeg and others wash over your tongue like so many Christmas cookies, making this a dazzling beer for the season. It’s on tap all over Philly, including at Misconduct, Flanigan’s Boathouse, The Whip Tavern and a half-dozen other locations.
We love beer. That's why we're devoting an entire year to discovering (and drinking) cold ones from near and far. Know of a beer worth shouting out? Send us a note at firstname.lastname@example.org.
