We love beer. That's why we're devoting an entire year to discovering (and drinking) cold ones from near and far. Know of a beer worth shouting out? Send us a note at tips@philadelphiaweekly.com.

A pineapple hefeweizen? The very idea of this beer is going to be divisive. Craft beer drinkers can be a pretty open-minded bunch when it comes to introducing them to wacky beer styles, but some brews are bound to draw quizzical looks based on their description alone. I Love Lamp is destined to be one of them. Still, what adventurous drinker wouldn’t want to give it a try? It pours a pale gold color with a thin, fizzy white head. The aroma smells like pineapple—no surprise there—with nary a hint of the bubblegum and banana you’d expect from a hefeweizen. Gentle, bready sweetness and a thin, juicy body are highlighted by softly herbal hops and very mild citrus that suggests peaches, apricot, and of course, pineapple. It’s quite different, but well-suited to summer drinking. Try it at Rembrandt’s.
