We love beer. That's why we're devoting an entire year to discovering (and drinking) cold ones from near and far. Know of a beer worth shouting out? Send us a note.
With their anniversary selections over the last few years, the folks at Stone have been showing us why they have a reputation for giving tradition the finger. These beers have been every bit as assertive, aggressive, and offbeat as the roster than made them famous in the first place. This year, Götterdämmerung IPA helps us celebrate their 17th anniversary with a huge array of German hops, some of them still experimental and not yet used in mainstream beers, along with the unusual (for Stone) choice to brew solely with pilsner malts. The mess o’ hops is as assertive as an American IPA but with a much different character: big notes of honey, melon, floral herbs, honeydew, lemon and spicy grasses. Try this monster ale at Alla Spina, Varga Bar, Bar 31 and Fountain Porter.
