A meal made of cocktails

The internationally renowned James Beard Foundation will be coming to Philadelphia this Friday, Oct. 4, to hold the special event Taste America: The Philadelphia Food Evolution. At Peche (3502 Scotts Lane, 866.657.3111), beverage manager Scott Zoccolillo will craft a cocktail-based “meal” built around local spirits and our city’s reputation as a hub for all things great for your palate and iffy for your liver. The imbibing will begin with a Prohibition-inspired white whiskey drink informed by the flavors of vermouth and sassafras root simple syrup. From there, it’s on to the 1960s with his riff on a vesper, and then a sweet apple-kissed dessert-cocktail-in-a-glass. Tickets are available online.
