We love beer. That's why we're devoting an entire year to discovering (and drinking) cold ones from near and far. Know of a beer worth shouting out? Send us a note at tips@philadelphiaweekly.com.

Pennsylvania was not left out of Sierra Nevada’s historic collaboration with a dozen of the nation’s best brewers. As part of the Beer Camp brews currently taking the beer world by storm, the landmark Chico, CA brewery teamed up with PA’s own Victory Brewing to create Alt Route, a German-style altbier that combines the smoothness of a lager with the full flavor of an ale. This reddish brown beer gives off aromas that suggest warm biscuits, mild coffee and candied apples, with a sweet taste featuring brown sugar, toasted nuts, grains, and faint herbal bitterness. This is the sort of beer that demands pairing with a hearty, meat-dominated meal. And you’re in luck: it’s currently on draft at over a dozen locations, including Bru Craft & Wurst, South Philly Tap Room, Varga Bar and Kraftwork.
