Welcome to PW's 50-Beer Countdown to Philly Beer Week! Every day from now through the Opening Tap ceremonies on May 31, we'll be getting in the mood by spotlighting a different great craft brew that's been poured by one or more Philly Beer Week participating venues.
Let me say up front that this is a love-it-or-hate-it brew. For whatever reason, some folks just want to pour this down the drain and forget it ever existed. Me? On a hot summer day, give me a can or four of this, please. Like Oskar Blues and a few others, 21st Amendment is known for being a can-only craft brewery. So, if you've got something against cans, you’re out of luck. You should also change your ways. Not only is canning good for beer (another discussion entirely), but during the summer months this particular beer is so refreshing it’s silly. Light and crisp like most low ABV American wheat beers, it has a nice dash of watermelon that will remind you of childhood days breaking your teeth on Jolly Ranchers — but with alcohol! If ever there was a beer made for drinking on a boat, this is it. Hell or High Watermelon is sometimes available at Lucky’s Last Chance, Grace Tavern, Royal Tavern, Redwood and Jolly’s.
