Jones Restaurant
Entrepreneurial restaurateur Stephen Starr owns Jones, a casual comfort-food restaurant and lounge on Chestnut Street. Jones has a laid-back atmosphere, affordable fare and an exciting late-night scene. The restaurant offers all the warmth of the Brady Bunch's sunken living room - with rough stone walls and columns, a see-thru fireplace, cork flooring, swivel chairs, and oversized, nightlight-lit booths - with an updated appeal. Diners can survey the space from a cozy mezzanine accessed by a wood and stone stair. In the bar, a large photo mural of a 1940s New Jersey beach scene - and a cocktail list with signature drinks such as "Mommy's Little Helper," Marker's Mark, Triple Sec and Club Soda; "Father Knows Best," Tequila, Grapefruit Juice and 7-Up; and "Betty Crocker," Stoli Vanilla Vodka and Creme de Cacao with Chocolate Shavings - contribute to the playful mood. The talented kitchen staff created a menu of affordable comfort food. Down-home dishes such as Baked Macaroni and Cheese, Beef Brisket, Deviled Eggs, Meatloaf and Mashed Potatoes, and Thanksgiving Turkey Dinner with all the Trimmings are some of the all-American specialties on the list, with eclectic variations on more worldly treats such as Seared Tuna Tacos with Avocado Relish, Cheese Pierogies with Caramelized Onion, and Hazelnut Crusted Scallops with Roasted Carrot Sauce and Green Lentils. Jones' signature entree is a hefty plate of Fried Chicken and Waffles, served with chicken gravy. For dessert, options include Strawberry Jell-O Parfait, Coconut Cream Pie, and Duncan Hines Chocolate Layer Cake.
