Getting to drink a beer while simultaneously help animals in need is a nice way to make you feel even better about drinking this crisp, potently bitter brew.  Weyerbacher names their IPA Last Chance because it donates a portion of all proceeds from sales of this beer to regional animal rescue operations (quite literally helping them give animals a last chance to find a home). Last Chance starts with clean, grainy malts, but it’s the addition of a “mess o’ hops” that turns it into a bitter beer lover’s dream. Lemon, citrus, touches of pineapple and wet grass and pine resin all come together for a beer that throws the idea of “balance” out the window. This beer attacks your tongue with sharp bitterness and then exits with a dry finish. If you like your beers tasting bitter and making animals’ lives better, by Standard Tap, Fox and Hound and The Pour House Exton and give it a try.

We love beer. That's why we're devoting an entire year to discovering (and drinking) cold ones from near and far. Know of a beer worth shouting out? Send us a note at tips@philadelphiaweekly.com.
