We love beer. That's why we're devoting an entire year to discovering (and drinking) cold ones from near and far. Know of a beer worth shouting out? Send us a note at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Pairing up a roasty imperial porter with plums? Really? On the surface, this may not seem like a match made in heaven. But New York’s Southern Tier Brewing Co. know what they’re doing, as evidenced by the clamor surrounding brews like Pumking and Crème Brulee. With Plum Noir, strong roasted malts with hints of chocolate and coffee start you off with familiar flavors, but they soon give way to sweet plums, chocolate-covered raisins, and even slight kisses of honey. Those dark fruits work perfectly with the sweeter side of the dark malts here, while herbal hopping provides just enough bitterness to give this beer balance. This brew contains fruit, yes, but you won’t think of it as a fruit beer. See for yourself at Doobies bar.
