We love beer. That's why we're devoting an entire year to discovering (and drinking) cold ones from near and far. Know of a beer worth shouting out? Send us a note at tips@philadelphiaweekly.com.

One of the Boston Beer Company’s most popular seasonal offerings, Winter Lager is a deep, dark ruby color with a puffy off-white head and an aroma hinting of winter spices. Like Boston Lager, this brew boasts a soft smoothness that makes for easy drinking. Unlike that flagship beer, though, this one has prickly spices that pepper each sip dominated by cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger. The caramel malt body supports this mish-mash of spices with a touch of sweetness, making for a brew that is a hearty companion on blustery winter days. Try this at BarLy Chinatown, 101 N. 11th St., or any of the many establishments rotating this back in for the season.
