For some beer lovers, winter isn’t officially over until Bell’s Oberon finally arrives. This unassuming American wheat ale out of Michigan has become a regional mainstay over the years, the sort of brew that says “better days have come.” In Michigan they often serve it with a slice of orange. But with or without orange, they serve a LOT of it. It’s the biggest seller by the landmark Bell’s Brewery, and it’s easy to see why.  Gentle wheat and citrus aromas kiss your nose, each sip’s wheat softness is touched by just a hint of peppery spice, and the light sweetness of the dry finish is offset by mildly herbal European hops. But most of all, this brew is just wickedly drinkable. Beers like this make you want to grab a Frisbee and hit the local park. It’s on draft at nearly two dozen places around the city, so if you want to try it, just open your eyes.
