These elder statesmen of brewing from Michigan have been delivering an eclectic assortment of brews for longer than almost anyone, and they’re always worth drinking. Bell’s Cherry Stout is no exception. We already know Bell’s can make a great stout, so it’s no surprise that the base beer has all the dark roast, bitter mocha and rich chocolate notes we’d expect. Throw in tart Michigan-grown cherries, though, and it’s a whole new ballgame: The fruit adds a tartness that cuts through the expected burnt sweetness without overpowering it. Blasting you with cherry in the middle of the sip, the beer still manages to finish with a touch of coffee and cocoa. A perfect dessert beer and a great complement to ice cream, try this brew at Jon’s Bar & Grille or Churchville Inn.
