We love beer. That's why we're devoting an entire year to discovering (and drinking) cold ones from near and far. Know of a beer worth shouting out? Send us a note at email@example.com.
Utah may have alcohol laws that make Pennsylvania’s look like a Mecca of beer-related freedom, but that hasn’t stopped outstanding brewers like Epic and Uinta from churning out top shelf beers. Salt Lake City’s Uinta proves that point with Hop Nosh (formerly known as Hop Notch), a brisk, balanced IPA that underscores the fact that IPAs can boast malt complexity in addition to big hop flavors. Pine and lemon scrub down your tongue with each sip, but not before you’re treated to caramel sweetness courtesy of those malts. The finish is dry and lingering. The bitterness is plenty aggressive enough for hop lovers, but thanks to being balanced by greater complexity this beer is especially well suited to pairing with a good meal (preferably something spicy). Try it at McCrossen’s Tavern and Pinocchio’s.
