We love beer. That's why we're devoting an entire year to discovering (and drinking) cold ones from near and far. Know of a beer worth shouting out? Send us a note at email@example.com.
Shiner’s schtick seems to be brewing deeply traditional beers with deeply traditional methods—so fermentation aficionados should be surprised with Holiday Cheer, Shiner’s traditional (natch) Dunkel with a decidedly unconventional twist with the addition of peaches and pecans. Dunkels tend to be medium-bodied beers with sweet, bready flavors. Those extra ingredients, though, make this beer a dunkel in name only. You can spot the taste of dark breads here, yes, but you’ll have to dig for it underneath layers of peaches. Holiday Cheer is bright and fruity, tempered only by the gentle hints of pecan that mingle with all those peaches, and offers a pleasant alternative to all those holiday spiced beers. Try it at Interstate Draft House, Irish Pol and Jolly’s.
