We love beer. That's why we're devoting an entire year to discovering (and drinking) cold ones from near and far. Know of a beer worth shouting out? Send us a note at

If at first glance the idea of watermelon and beer seems like an awkward match, think about the staples of a great summer day celebration: music, hot dogs, fireworks, and yes, beer and watermelon. Makes sense now, right? With the success of 21st Amendment’s Hell or High Watermelon, it comes as no surprise that we’re starting to see other watermelon brews come to market. In creating Lovitz Watermelon Lager, Roy Pitz Brewing Co., out of Chambersburg, PA, first brews a fairly traditional summertime lager, then lets it sit for a few weeks with a load of farm fresh watermelon. But this ain’t no fruit beer, it’s a summer beer. Rather than candy-like sweetness, the result is a stunningly smooth lager with just a hint of refreshing, juicy flavor in every sip. You’ll find yourself impressed at the balance when you try it at Watkins Drinkery or Wrap Shack.
