We love beer. That's why we're devoting an entire year to discovering (and drinking) cold ones from near and far. Know of a beer worth shouting out? Send us a note.

Philadelphia is only just now getting lucky enough to enjoy the goodness that is Kane, one of New Jersey’s hottest new breweries and one generally available only at the Jersey Shore. Like their neighbors at Carton, Kane beers are only available on draft (save for a few rare bottle releases), but also, like Carton, they are usually worth hunting down wherever available. Morning Bell is certainly one of those worth seeking out. An imperial porter brewed with coffee and milk sugar to give it a silky mouth feel and sweetness, this bold 9.2 percent ABV beer is a triumph of complexity. The coffee — locally roasted, natch — is bold on the nose and adds a welcome roasty bitterness to the finish, balancing the robust body and layers of sweetness. Few coffee beers are better. Morning Bell is available at The Pour House for a limited time.

“The coffee comes from rook coffee roasters of monmouth county and is their Sumatra Dark roast.”
