Yes, that name is a mouthful. (Really, guys, are you trying to see how far you can push the Obnoxious Craft Beer Name thing?) The beer, however, is not. Kimmie is a Gose (pronounced like “rose uh”), a once obscure German style now coming into minor popularity in the world of American craft beer. The reason will be obvious once you try it. Bright as a summer day, this golden ale is refreshingly tart and fizzy, with lemongrass, citrus and spices showing prominence. What makes it stand out from the crowd, however, is the briny tang. Gose, you see, is brewed with salt—and you can taste it. That might sound unappealing, but trust us, in practice it’s terrific. Light, effervescent, and utterly drinkable, here’s to hoping we’ll see many more of these in the years ahead.
