Join the PW crew for a happy hour at The Victoria Freehouse.
We enjoyed chatting with readers during last month’s PW coffeeshop tour—so much so, in fact, that we’re going to ask you to come hang with us again, this time with booze. On Tues., March 25, we kick off our bimonthly happy hour series, PW’s Drink City Live, with an evening at The Victoria Freehouse in Old City (10 S. Front St). It’s your chance to have all sorts of fun at once: to sample drink specials from our sponsor, Sazerac; to pester our team, including editors Stephen Segal and Sheena Lester and reporter Randy LoBasso, about what you really wish you’d see in PW’s pages; and to enjoy the Anglophilic flavor of the London-style pub itself.
You’ll also have the chance to meet our special guest, world-class pop guitarist and producer Clayton Sears. The Northwest Philadelphia native is most recently noted for his work performing on stage with Jay Z and Rihanna—but this spring he’s flexing his high-culture muscles at home as the musical director of a multimedia arts show at Moore College titled Vanishing Goddess, which pulls together the stunning photography of Japanese artist Naoya Yamaguchi (pictured and on this week’s PW cover) alongside live music from Japanese singer Kumiko and classical pianist Yukino Kano. Sears will chat with the crowd at PW’s Drink City Live about what to expect from the upcoming April 26-27 show—and maybe, if we’re lucky, share some tour stories, too.
