Paperback Poetry Festival is a safe and welcoming space in which poets, writers, and artists from estranged communities can celebrate one another. It is also a collaborative effort between Philly's sub-art-communities to make, if even just for a day, excellent art and literature accessible to all.

Featured Performers - Raquel Salas Rivera, Alyesha Wise, Jen Anolik, and David Pratt.

Spotlight Performers - Shanel Edwards, Shirmina Smith, Naz Bowman, and Jamal Parker.

This event is presented by the City's Office of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy as part of Performances in Public Spaces, a summer series of FREE cultural performances in parks and plazas across Philadelphia neighborhoods. From May through October, the annual series brings arts and culture experiences to local outdoor spaces. All Performances in Public Spaces are free and open to the public. Registration is encouraged but not required. To find more free Performances in Public Spaces events, visit

Getting there: Olmstead Overlook is an approximately 10 minute walk from the NRG Station stop of the subway (Broad Street Line). If you are driving, there is a parking lot located within the park, just a few hundred feet from the performance area. Click here for directions directly to the Overlook
