Philadelphia, USA. The year is 2050. Many US citizens are living normal, stable lives, though the preceding years of isolation, migration and resettlement have kept tensions high. A new Constitution has just been ratified and the US is rebuilding after decades of political, technological and environmental unrest. Climate crises ravaged the country in the form of wildfires, hurricanes and tornadoes, and electrical brown and blackouts became common occurrences. In 2040, the economy crashed and people returned to old ways of life—hunting, bartering, home-schooling. Five years later, in 2045, the US began to rebuild and reconcile in earnest. Systems of national leadership and connectivity were reinstated. In 2048, after the first competitive presidential election since 2024, a Reconciliatory Socialist was sworn in as President.

DREDx is an evening of TED-like talks where thought leaders share their research, experiences and world views with an audience in 2050 Philadelphia.
