If live music is your thing, New Year’s Eve won’t disappoint.

If a more sophisticated, dress-to-impress musical experience is what you’re looking for, the Philadelphia Orchestra will perform its annual New Year’s Eve concert. This year they’re joined by Tony- and Grammy-winner Audra McDonald (she’s also an actress; she currently stars in ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy spin-off Private Practice ), who’ll lend her accomplished soprano to Gershwin songs and others from the Great American Songbook. ■
