The competition will be fierce at this year’s Miss’d America Pageant.
With the pageant on, the alliance has enlisted Robert “Sandy Beach” Hitchen to write and direct. Also on hand will be Queer Eye for the Straight Guy’s Carson Kressley to co-host with the last crowned Miss’d America Andrea LaMour. Proceeds will benefit the GLBT Alliance, the Schultz-Hill Scholarship Foundation, the William Way Center of Philadelphia, Broadway Cares-Equity Fights AIDS of New York City and the South Jersey AIDS Alliance.
Schultz, however, sees the re-established show he started with a paper crown and some dead roses again becoming a power in Atlantic City and some day, he hopes, a pageant as famous as the one that left the city behind.
“The Miss’d America Pageant started in Atlantic City just like Miss America,” he says. “But then Vegas stole the pageant from us. Well, this year the drag queens are taking it back.”
