This week two theaters are presenting contemporary versions of classic plays, with Temple Theaters' production of The Seven and Bristol Riverside Theatre's world premiere What You Will. Created by innovative award-winner Will Power, The Seven is a hip-hop reimagining of Aeschylus' Greek tragedy Seven Against Thebes. Power utilizes hip-hop choreography and a score that blends pop, rap and slam poetry to transform a 2,500-year-old tale of sibling rivalry into an urban theatrical extravaganza. What You Will is co-directed by Bristol Riverside Theatre Artistic Director Keith Baker and Donald Byrd, who choreographed the exceptional musical adaptation of The Color Purple. This adaptation combines the original text of Shakespeare's comedy Twelfth Night with vigorous choreography and a pounding score from hip-hop producer Justin Ellington. (J. Cooper Robb)
