"I began acting at Freedom Theatre when I was 10. I always loved pretending to be other people. When people asked me what I wanted to do when I grow up, I had so many things I wanted to be. And then I realized I didn't want to be those things, I wanted to pretend to be those things. So acting seemed like the most obvious thing for me to do. The role in Gee's Bend was a challenge for me because I had to be honest onstage. I had to tell the story of real people. I always say I have to find my character within myself, so when I begin a role I find out what the lines really mean. That way I'm able to become that character physically, mentally and emotionally. There's always things you can learn in acting. This year has been wonderful for me. I was nominated for the Otto Haas Award at the Barrymore Awards. It was my first nomination. The Lord has really blessed me and challenged me."
