If you want to know why the young of the West cling so grimly to the zombie--a cultural trope now so hackneyed and flyblown its head is in serious danger of dropping off--one need look only at the preponderance of gray-haired old dodderers clogging up the culture, monopolizing the oxygen and controlling the artistic agenda. For generations X through Z zombies are real--they're the millions of too-numerous-to-kill-off baby-boomer assholes who--thanks to advances in medical technology--look likely to totter on, droning tediously about the good old days, until they're 140. Shit, who wouldn't fantasize about running riot with a pump-action shotgun and a chainsaw under those circumstances? So come--ye young, dumb and full of gunk--to the Troc. Get made up to look like John "Where's" McCain and Sarah "Im" Palin and cruise to an easy victory in the election of the Zombie King and Queen of Philadelphia. At midnight Philly's Halloweenest jeweler Henri David will bang a gong to announce the official start of the witching season. I feel a Philly tradition in the making--one that won't end until we've strangled the last baby boomer with the guts of the second-to-last baby boomer. And then eaten them.
