"My mother was always sewing when I was growing up, doing costumes for theaters. I just picked it up. I've been running the business for the past four years doing custom clothing and consignments to not only places in Philadelphia but in Seattle, Memphis and Baltimore. I make one-of-a-kind pieces and do a lot of custom work using couture techniques and beading. I also do bridal gowns and burlesque and Western-style clothing, but with a vintage and rock 'n' roll edge. I use a lot of vintage fabrics. Just the fabric itself will inspire me. I love the fashion of the '40s and '50s. The techniques--pintucking and pleats--were very feminine, modern but still classy. People come to me with the style they have in mind and I'll create something that'll fit their personality. When clothing is custom-made, it fits you better. You can walk around knowing that you look good in it and that it's made to suit your body style and type. You don't want everyone in the same H&M jumper."
