Gregory and James Labold

"We've been making things forever--spending hours creating worlds and within five minutes finding ways to completely destroy them. We both went to Tyler and I studied printmaking while he studied glass blowing. He's more the sculptural, I'm more the illustrative, graphic. Eventually we got the idea to collaborate. We started taking elements of his sculpture and elements of my drawing and putting them on shirts. It all started in our parents' tiny little garage. We take from a lot of different cultures and we're inspired by a lot of different aesthetics. There's a good amount of elements from our home--the backyard where we grew up--a lot of stuff is developed and inspired by that. We moved to Philadelphia to expand--we needed a lot more space to work. We're brothers, so we know how to push each other's buttons. But there's nobody else that I could really work with. I know him, and who better to work with than this person who really knows me?"
