It’s almost hard to believe, upon meeting her, that she’s the same girl who amps up Power 99 from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. on her weekly Saturday Night Live show. But if you’ve ever tuned in, you definitely know her name, as it’s echoed frequently and loudly—“ DJ Diamond Kuts, Diamond Kuts, Diamond Kuts ”—over each track that she spins and mixes with the ease of a veteran.

When in Doubt

What made the Broadway production of Doubt so thrilling was the purposeful lack of answers. At the play’s conclusion we remained uncertain about the priest’s guilt. Director David Bradley’s new production is neither as mysterious nor compelling.

Update for the Uptown

Closed as a performance space in 1981, the Uptown briefly reopened in the ’80s. A church group held services there until a 1991 storm damaged the roof, allowing water to pucker the painted walls and corrode the gilded auditorium. After the congregation left, the only people who entered were thieves, crackheads and taggers. 
After decades of decline, the next phase of the theater’s rebirth will begin on June 27—the official groundbreaking for the interior renovations.
